Blood Flow Restricted Training

McGuire Physical Therapy has recently added Blood Flow Restricted Training to our list of specialized services. For patients who meet our “Safety First” inclusion criteria, this technique allows us to achieve improved upper and lower extremity strength with resistance levels reduced to 30% of the intensity required by traditional strengthening approaches. The ability to achieve improved muscle strength while maintaining a threefold reduction in joint stress is allowing us to progress patients more rapidly, with less pain and trauma.

Hands On Manual Therapy

All of our physical therapists have extensive specialized training in techniques to restore normal movement to your joints and muscles.

State Of The Art Modalities

In addition to conventional therapies, such as heat, ice, ultrasound, and electrical stimulation, we use low level laser treatment to reduce pain and promote tissue healing.

The Pnueweight Suspension System

A unique tool that we use to decrease weight bearing forces in the injured athlete. It also allows us to challenge those with balance impairment while eliminating the risk of falling.

Body Mechanics Training

By teaching you how to use your body differently, the activities that normally result in trauma can now result in exercise.

Concussion Management Preseason Cognitive & Postural Stability Testing

NFL players receive concussion testing before each season begins to establish baseline performance information. When a player is suspected of sustaining a concussion, they are re-tested. Players are not allowed to return to full contact until their post injury test results return to pre-injury status.
Now, your kids can have the same type of testing to help with return to play decisions. McGuire Physical Therapy uses the Biodex Balance System along with standardized cognitive testing to establish baseline ability prior the start of full contact practice.
If your child  sustains a concussion, they return for daily re-testing. If their test performance worsens with repeated testing, they are referred back to their physician for further diagnostics.  Once their post-injury test results are as good as their pre-injury test results, their physician is notified so that a safe return decision can be made.
Assessment cost: $80.00

Onsite Ergonomics Consultation

We will come to your workplace and help make changes that can get you out of pain once and for all.

Functional Capacity Evaluations

Standardized testing is used to determine a worker’s ability to return to their jobs. A work conditioning program can be customized to help build a worker’s tolerance to their essential job functions.

Senior Fitness Evaluations

Our proprietary software program lets you know how your level of fitness compares to the fitness level of others your age. Problem areas in strength, mobility, and balance are identified so that an effective exercise program can be developed.

Pre-Season Performance Testing

Have you ever wondered:
Does my child have an increased risk of injuring their knee, hip, or ankle?
When is the best time to return to play following an injury? McGuire physical therapy utilizes Biodex Athletic Single Leg Stability Testing to help answer these questions.  We evaluate your student athlete prior to the start of season. Test results are compared to normative data collected from other athletes of the same age, gender, and height to help identify instabilities which may lead to injury. Then, specific training advice is given to work on any weaknesses that have been identified. McGuire Physical Therapy also uses the baseline test results from pre-season testing to help parents, couches, and physicians make safer return to play decisions. In the unfortunate case that your child sustains a lower extremity injury, they return to our clinic for re-testing. Once post-injury performance is as good as pre-season performance and adequate healing time has elapsed, their parents and physician are notified so that an informed return to play decision can be made.
Assessment Cost:  $ 40.00
